Every one of these is common, well understood, and responds to the right support.

Most people wait years before they say it to anyone. You don't have to.

Sexual concerns are some of the most common, and least talked about, health issues there are. There is nothing you could bring to a session that our therapists have not heard before, taken seriously, and helped someone work through with care.

    What therapy can open up

Imagine sex feeling like yours again.

Most people arrive carrying something heavy, and often a little embarrassed. They leave with language for it, a way forward, and the relief of having finally said it to someone who understands. Here is what that usually looks like.

    A couple reconnecting
    Understand

We make sense of what is going on together, gently and without blame, so it stops feeling like a mystery or a fault.

    Reconnect

You find your way back to your body, your confidence, and the people you are close to, at a pace that feels safe.

    Enjoy

Sex becomes something you can look forward to again, on your own terms and in your own way.

    How it works

    Three steps, at your pace.

    Who you'll be talking to

Your concern is real, common, and workable.

Miano Clinical Sexology is directed by Sexologist Laura Miano and brings together qualified sex therapists who specialise in male and female sexual concerns. The practice was built on a simple belief: everyone is entitled to a satisfying sex life, and getting there should not take shame, embarrassment, or years of silence.

In-person appointments return to Prahran, Melbourne from October 2026. Until then, every session runs online, which most people find easier for exactly this kind of conversation.

    Common questions

The things people want to know first.

Yes. Your sessions, your enquiry, and everything you share are confidential, in line with our privacy policy and professional standards. Appointments are online, so there is no waiting room and no chance of running into anyone.

No. You can book directly with us. No referral, no paperwork, and no explaining yourself twice.

Sex therapy is talk-based therapy. There is no physical examination and nothing physical happens in sessions. For concerns with a possible medical component, such as erectile dysfunction or sexual pain, your therapist works alongside any care you are receiving from your doctor and can help you make sense of both.

Your therapist will get to know you, your history, and what you would like to change, at whatever level of detail you are comfortable with. You do not need to prepare anything, and you will not be pushed to share more than you want to. By the end, you will have a sense of your therapist's approach and what working together would look like.

Absolutely. Individual therapy is exactly that: for you, on your own. Many clients come to work on concerns like sexual anxiety, dating anxiety, difficulties with arousal or orgasm, or things they have never felt able to discuss with a partner.

It depends on your concern and your goals. Some people come for a handful of focused sessions, others prefer longer-term work. Your therapist will give you an honest sense of this early on, and you are never locked in.

We are a Melbourne practice, with online appointments available Australia-wide. In-person sessions in Prahran return from October 2026. After-hours appointments are available for both.
